Dennis Grimaud, Chairman and CEO
Dennis Grimaud brings over 30 years of experience in the health care industry and 20 years experience in biotechnology as an entrepreneur, senior executive and consultant. He is currently Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of DIATHERIX Laboratories, Inc. a clinical laboratory that provides testing services to healthcare for the identification of infectious disease through multiplexing PCR technology. He was recently Chief Executive Officer of Genaco Biomedical Products, Inc. providing Molecular Differential Diagnostics through multiplexing technology in infectious disease and cancer. He was also Chairman, President and CEO of Premier Micronutrient Corporation, a disease management company providing risk-based, disease specific micronutrient protocols that are adjunctive to standard therapy. Dennis was Founder, Chairman and CEO of ScyTech, Inc. a company providing management and business services to life science related biotechnology and health care companies. He also co-founded and was Chairman, President and CEO of Cytometry Associates, Inc., a specialized cancer testing facility providing clinical diagnostic testing services to physician specialists and biopharmaceutical services to the pharmaceutical industry in drug discovery and clinical trials. Prior to Cytometry Associates he served as Vice President and General Manager of the Center for Clinical Sciences, a centralized esoteric testing center for International Clinical Laboratories, Inc. He also held the positions of Vice President ICL East, responsible for turning around troubled operational divisions and Vice President of Sales and Marketing at ICL responsible for developing market strategy for cooperative agreements with hospitals. Prior to joining ICL he held two positions with National Medical Enterprises, Inc. as Administrator of Medical Diagnostics and Director of Laboratory Services in materials management providing consultation to over 150 hospitals and medical facilities nationwide.
Randy Ward, President and COO
Randy has a B.S. in Biology from Mississippi College and a Medical Technology degree from Baptist Medical Centers in Birmingham, AL. He also received Medical Technologist certification from the American Society of Clinical Pathology. For almost forty years, Randy has been involved in managing clinical laboratories. Along with management duties, he taught Blood Bank in a Medical Technology program, taught CAP inspectors, performed many CAP inspections and was involved in designing one of the early hospital wide computer systems. He was also very active in Blood Bank associations and Pathology associations. He has been responsible for designing, implementing and managing five medical reference laboratories in Alabama, Illinois and Indiana. He was also responsible for re-engineering six hospital laboratories and for the management of five hospital laboratories.
Frank A. Honkanen, M.D. Laboratory Director
Dr Honkanen obtained his M.D. from the Medical College of Georgia after receiving a master's degree in Biological Sciences from Georgia State University and B.S. in Biology from the University of Georgia. He received his internship and residency training at Duke University where he served as Chief Resident in Pathology. While at Duke he received Fellowships in Clinical Microbiology as well as Anatomic and Clinical Pathology as the Cannon Cabbarus Fellow. Dr. Honkanen is board certified by the American Board of Pathology in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology. Currently he is the President of Pathology Associates, P.C., Director of Clinical Laboratories at Huntsville Hospital and Clinical Associate Professor of Pathology at UAB Huntsville campus. He serves on the Infection control committee at Huntsville Hospital, is an Inspector for the College of American Pathologists and is the past president of the Alabama Association of Pathologists.
Molecular Diagnostics Team
The DIATHERIX Laboratories professional staff brings many years of diverse laboratory and educational experience to the development, validation and performance of molecular diagnostic assays for infectious diseases. In fact, the assays being offered by DIATHERIX were developed by our present staff. Our R&D staff includes individuals with advanced degrees in biochemistry, molecular biology and microbiology. Their experience includes work in these areas, as well as varied experience in such fields as molecular biology and microbiology, as well as varied experience in such fields as gene regulation and expression, infection and immunity, chemistry, viral detection systems, protein chemistry, pathology, microarrays, quality control, cancer research, plant biology and biological teaching. Our clinical staff consists of ASCP certified laboratory professionals. Their various experiences includes microbiology, chemistry, serology, virology, special chemistry, reference testing, proficiency testing, chain of custody collections, and instrument development and implementation. We are well equipped for the research and development of molecular assays, as well as the day to day operation, performance and quality assurance of the clinical laboratory.
